How do I add dimensions to a geometric shape that don't appear in

I need to be able to add dimensions to a geometric shape, but the only thing
I find is to insert the dimensions inside the geometry. Can anyone help??

There is a dimension stencil, but it may only be available in Visio Tech or
Visio Pro.

It is relatively easy to create your own dimension line.
1) Create a 1-d line.
2) Add arrow heads to either end.
3) Use Insert Field to add the shapes length to the shapes text.

Any time you you stretch the shape, the text will display the length.

You can then start grouping other shapes to make an outside dimension or add
other embelishments.

Thanks, I didn't know about rthe dimensioning templates. They work fine...
