How do I change a protected document if I don't have a password? .

A former employee has protected alot of documents that are needed in our
organization. Alot of them have to do with our ISO system. We cannot get
around the passwords. I was wondering if there was a way for administration
to cancel the protection some how, so as all these documents do not have to
be re-created. It would save alot of company time.

contact the former employee.
if necessary take legal action against the former employee.

Protected from opening? Protected from modifying by protecting as forms?

There are tools available on the web that will crack Word passwords (among
others). Use at your own risk. I can't recommend any or direct you to them
but they're there (start with google). While it would be better to get the
password from the former employee, it might be quicker and cheaper to use a
cracking tool.

Please note that I am not advocating any illegal or unethical activity. If
the documents are the property of your employer and your employer authorises
the cracking, and cracking isn't illegal in your jurisdiction, then I'd be
suprised if there's any problem. But if using a cracking tool is illegal or
unethical in your circumstances, then don't.

My advisors protect me from such things, so I must give then credit here.

I get superb advice from my legal advisors
Legal, Beagle, Finagle & Connive Inc.
and equally sound advice from my accountants
Penny Wise, Pound Foolish & Red Inc.

I also get regular statements from my financial advisor
