How do I change text in Powerpoint from horizontal to vertical?

I tried resetting the language to Japanese as indicated in one of your recent
posts and this did not work for me.

Not sure what you mean by changing to vertical, but if you mean this:

x
t
you will have to use a WordArt, there are a few samples in the WordArt
gallery, or you can use the vertical text button on the WordArt toolbar.
If it is not that you are after, report back.
