How do i change the default paste setting to "Picture"

When I am pasting pictures, I like to save time by just using the shortcut
ctrl + v, however, this seems to paste pictures in "HTML" setting, whereas I
would like to save space and have them as type "Picture". Is there any way I
can change the default so ctrl + v automatically pastes as a picture?

I don't think you can change the default to what you want. To see available
paste options for pictures, see Tools - Options - Edit - Insert/Paste
Pictures As: (not sure if this option exists prior to Word 2002).

If that doesn't give you what you want (and I don't believe it will) one way
to get the desired result would be to record a macro that does the paste
special - picture, then assign it to a key combination. Unless you want to
create a more sophisticated macro that "senses" the contents of the
clipboard, I'd suggest you use a different combination than Ctrl+V, since
you likely wouldn't like the results when the clipboard contains text.
