In all my years of printing I have never received a "logo" in pdf format.

Allow me to clarify, I received a logo in a PDF, which was placed in the
middle of an 8½ x 11 PDF page. I ended up extracting the logo.

I've heard you say this before but that confuses me. If something is
at 150 dpi, how you can you "make it better" at 300 dpi?

You can't, but if you have a Publisher document containing text and line
drawings (infinite dpi), and export as 150dpi and 300dpi images, the 300dpi
images will be of better quality.

Okay, that makes sense. This particular OP had asked "I am trying to make a
logo, but the lines that i am making have spaces in them when i make it a
png, or jpeg file. can the dpi be increased" Although the answer is that
he/she could save it as a 300 dpi but that wouldn't necessarily make it a
better image, correct?

It sounds like they are making line drawings in Publisher, which would mean
that a higher dpiage would create higher quality.

Brian,

I get pdf files of logos every week.

Bizarre how different shops work eh? Many of mine might have begun as a pdf,
but they have always come to me in .eps (most popular), then typical graphic
images after that.

But after it's already created and saved as 150dpi is saving it again as 300
gonna improve the quality?

No way can you make a picture from a Box Brownie reproduce like the same
scene taken with a Hasselblad 500CM.. Publisher would require mystical
powers to be able to do that..

Not if you save it from the image file, but to do that you'd have to import
the image file back into Publisher and save again.
If you save again direct from the original Publisher file, you will get a
higher quality.

That's what I thought...it was sorta rhetorically axed...it just sounded
like what someone was saying a few posts back..maybe not this thread.

Brian,

It's called control. "Send me a pdf file." They oblige. But I'm not a
printer.
