How do I customise the template window

I work for a legal firm and the templates supplied with Word 2002 are not of
any use to us, however we do wish to use templates we set up and store them
in an easily accessible place. How do I delete the documents and wizards
already there? Can I change the headers on the template window 'tabs'? Word
seems to allow personalisation everywhere else - so why can't I find how to
do this?

See “OFF2000: How Office 2000 Manages Templates†at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=240216 for an overview. In Word 2000 and
above, you can't just delete the "installed" templates (those that ship with
Word); you have to uninstall them (Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs |
Change). Then find the folder where Normal.dot is stored (the "User
templates" folder on the Tools | Options | File Locations tab) and put your
templates there. If you create a subfolder of this folder and put at least
one template in it, the subfolder will show up as a tab.
