How do I find my contacts after an OS rebuild?

I have recently rebuilt my PC i.e. re-installing my OS (XP). I manged to get
back all my documents and files from my external backup source.
Unfortunatley, when I went onto Outlook I was unable to see my contacts.
Where do I find them and what should I search for?

Contacts are not stored separately. They are stored with all of your other
Outlook data. Is the rest of your Outlook data there? How did you back up
your Outlook data file?

Hi - It is my understanding that the Outlook data is backed up along with my
C drive. Sorry to be a muppet, but what should I be looking for i.e
extensions?
