How do I fix problems with Microsoft Outlook 2000?

Evertime I open up Outlook my computer seems to stall. My email messages
start appearing and then I get a no response message from Outlook. I then
have to do Cntr+Alt+Delete to cancel Outlook. I am not able to see my
calendar or read my email messages. Could this be a virus? Can someone help?
