how do I get an animated object to fly off chart

I have an animated graphic that flies onto the chart. After discussion, I
need the aniimated object to fly or drop off the chart slowly. How do I have
it fly off?

Depends... What version of PowerPoint are you using? It's quickly explained
in PPT 2002 or newer, more complicated in PPT 2000 or later.

What version of PowerPoint are you using? Exit animations are available in
PowerPoint 2002 and 2003. If you don't have one of those versions you will have
to fake it somehow, perhaps with a second slide that is a duplicate, but the
graphic is not included.
