How do I get an avi loop to display in PowerPoint, it goes to bla.

I am having a problem inserting an avi loop in PP. It works fine when I open
it in Windows Media Player or Quick Time Pro. However, when I insert it into
my PP presentation it shows the first frame when not activated then goes to
black when I try to play it. I beleive I have the correct codecs based on it
running in media player. Is there a configuration in PP 2003 that will allow
PP to recognize the file type and play it correctly? Thanks, Kevin

I just emailed the PP presentation and one of the avi files to my home
desktop that also has PP 2003 and the avi works just fine. So I think there
is something going on in my configuration of my PP 2003 on my Dell Precision
M60 laptop. Any thoughts?

I decreased my hardware accelleration by 3 clicks and it finally worked.
Will this lower setting impact anyother performance?
Thanks,
Kevin

It may do.
In PowerPoint you may notice some reduction of quality with certain
animations (Fade Smoothly in particular). Outside of PowerPoint many
applications make use of hardware acceleration and disabling it or reducing
it can affect performance quite significantly. But you can turn it back up
if you need to...
