I know how to use custom animations but I'm trying to use Action Settings to
have an object disapper when I click on the actual object (box). But, the
Action Settings box is 'grey' and I can't click on it...please help.

Two things. First, how are you trying to get to the Action Settings? Try
right-clicking on the object and choosing Action Settings. However, if you
are using PowerPoint 2002 or 2003, you want to use Animation Triggers, not
Action Settings. Set an exit animation for the object. Set the timing of
the animation to be Triggers (click on the object in the Custom Animation
Task Pane, and choose Timing from the pull-down menu that you get when you
click on the triangle next to it). You will then be asked to choose which
object will trigger the animation. You can choose to have an object trigger
its own animation.

What you probably want to use is Triggers! It is a feature of Custom
Animations in PPT 2002 or 2003. Which version do you have? What exactly
are you trying to accomplish? Reason I ask, is the wheel might have already
been created!
