Either PowerPoint or Excel has created 3 permanent small lines on the upper
right corner of my monitor. How do I get rid of these lines?

Neither PPT nor Excel will put anything permanent on your monitor. Either
you have bad pixels on your monitor, or you need to update your video card
drivers. You might also try changing hardware acceleration (both down and
up -- try all the settings). See How to set graphics hardware acceleration
