How do I get Spell Checker to work for Notes

R

RakeshB

Have set the language for my Slides and Notes to EnglishNZ.

Spell Checker works for my slides, however does not pick up misspelled words
in my Notes section.

Hm. PPT spellcheck works on the notes here. Is there anything special about
your notes? And are you sure there are misspelled words in them?

Which version of PPT?

I am using PowerPoint 2000 SP 3.

When I first try using the Spell Checker get the following error message:
"Powerpoint can't find the spelling files for the default language"

Am now finding that the Spell Checker does not work for the Slides either.

The language is set as English(New Zealand)

Do not have any problems with the Spell Checker in Word, using the same
language.

I have run a Detect and Repair.

If I use this code to set the language to EnglishUS, then the Spelling
Checker works.

However if I change to EnglishNewZealand then get the following error:
"Powerpoint couldn't find the spelling file for English (New Zealand)

This is strange as in Word I am using the Engligh (New Zealand) spelling and
it is working ok in Word.

I'd bet that the objects on your slides are set to a different language,
then.

See Sample Code to Change the Language ID of a Text Box
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;245468

You might want to double-check Tools/Language to see that new presentations
with new objects will be set to English NZ by default.

I'm glad you posted back -- I just remembered something about "English
dialects." (Don't shoot the messenger!)

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;218537 I think
you'll have to change your language to English Australia instead of NZ.

Thanks, that fixed it.

Don't they know that NZ is different from Aus ?
