How do I improve the resolution of a document in Publisher?

I am using publisher to produce a e-newsletter to send via outlook.

I have finished the formatting and have entered the content, but now when I
send it out the resolution is pretty shoddy.

Is there any way for me to improve the resolution of the document so that
people can actually read it? The font is really the biggest problem...
especially when I change the color of the background or the font.
