How do I insert a graphic from PDF file into a powerpoint slide?

Barb

I have several good charts that are PDF files that I would like to include in
slides in a ppt presentation.

Save the PDFs as an image and then import.

Hi Barb

Do you know about the Snapshot tool in Adobe pdf reader?

Provided that the author of the pdf file hasn't protected things, you
can take a snapshot of each chart and then just paste it into
PowerPoint.

I do not seem to be able to save PDF's as image - it saves only as text -
this is where I was trying to go.

Hi again Barb

I have version 8 of Adobe Reader.

I open the pdf I want to copy a diagram from.

On the Tools menu, I go to Select and Zoom then choose the Snapshot
tool. My cursor turns to a crosshair sort of thing.

I then draw a box around the photo/chart/diagram I want to copy.

The screen flashes, and there's a popup message telling me that the
selected area has been copied.

I then go to PowerPoint and paste. Voila!

try pdf2picture. It extracts all of the objects and text from a PDF file and
produces a WMF or EMF file which works with the PowerPoint "Insert Picture...
from file" drop-down. If you don't needto edit the PDF, it can produce a nice
hi-res BMP also. You can use it free for 30 days to try it out.
