How do I insert a text box in Microsoft Office Document Imaging?

I open a .tif file using Microsoft Office Document Imaging. I click on
"insert a text box" button, and proceed to add the text box to the .tif.
Nothing happens. How can I get the text box to work?

Nothing happens? What does "nothing happens" mean? Do you have a box big
enough to see the text? Do you see text appear in the box as you type?
If you r-click in the box do you get a context menu?

Nothing happens means that when I click on the text box button, then go to
the .tif with the mouse cursor and left click once, it does not start to draw
a box. It's just a click, and that's it. I understand that I have to draw
the box on the .tif where I want the text box to be, but it will not make the
box. I'm thinking it may be missing something on the install or something.

Yes, I am left clicking and holding it down. I then drag it to try to draw
the box. It doesn't even bring up the lines like it even tries to draw the
box. Also, the pen and highlighter does not function either which leads me
to believe that something is not installed. I work in the IT department for
a company of about 100 employees. The Office Document Imaging text box works
correctly on some PC's, but on others it doesn't. I can't figure out what
the difference is.

I would wonder if it isn't a case of the video driver being either a
generic one or the wrong one. See if there is a newer version for the
adapter at the manufacturers web site, (DON'T use Windows Update to
attempt to get a hardware driver). Another thing to try would be to
reduce hardware acceleration in the Display setting for the video
card(Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot, drag slider
left a notch and try that)
