How do I level and re-assign a project's resources based on skill.

I'm looking for a way to level several projects with one or many MPPs that
will re-assign resources to tasks across based on a role or skills? Any
suggestions?

I'm finding that it is very tedious in a large plan to re-appropriate under
utilized resources that great created due to either dependent task durations
or priorities.

No module or routine in Project re-allocates work to an other resource.

I know that at one time there was 3rd party software which integrated
with Project to do this. I had a complimentary copy from the company. I
don't recall the name. If I was looking for it again, I'd start by
looking at the list of 3rd party vendors that MS offers (I think they
still do) and the one at the MVP site.

Project Server also has this functionality, though it looks to do resource
substitution rather than leveling.

.... And ieven in Project Server, to my knowledge, it is still you to select
the replacing resource isn't it? I don't recal Server to choose it for you.
