How do I link a word document in a webpage?

I just finished creating a website for a class, but the links which are
supposed to lead to Word documents do nothing on the published website. I
read something on an earlier discussiona about publishing the documents to
the website, but I do not know what that means. Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks!

You need to upload the word document to the website and on the website page
create a link to the word document, i.e., on the webpage have a line like,

Get the filenamd.doc here.

Using the entire or any part of the sentence and create a link with Insert,
Hyperlink. Then create the path to filename.doc.

Look in the Publisher Help for "add hyperlink".

Don, Can you explain further how to upload the word document to the website?
I am using webspace provided to me by my university's server. My only method
for publishing has been dragging the file (named index) into my folder, and
it's published. I just don't understand the terminology...upload to website.
thanks so much for replying!

Perhaps you could ask someone at your university for additional information
on that. They'd be the ones who would know how to get your files in the
correct location.

I use a ftp (file transfer protocol) program to upload my website and any
documents I have links to. If you don't use a ftp program a good source of
info on ftp is your Internet Provider. They sometimes have a ftp program for
their customers.
