How do I lock lock toolbars in Ofc 2003?

I would like to keep the toolbar configuration from changing every time I
open office 2003 apps. Is there a way?

The toolbars in Office remain in the same position always. However, add-ins
will change how the toolbars display since they are notoriously unkempt in
their programming to set the toolbar position. Adobe is especially bad at
programming add-ins for other programs.

I am having the same problem. It's not a matter of the toolbars customizing
to the work I am doing. I turn on specific toolbars, and others off, and each
time I open Word, I have to turn the ones I want on and the others off. For
example, I always have to turn off the Email toolbar and turn ON the drawing
toolbar. In previous versions, this configuration would stay the same until I
turned them on or off.

Toolbar position and on/off is stored in the Registry. There are times
this value gets corrupted and new changes are not preserved. Try the
following:

- Exit Word and Outlook if using Word as your email editor
- In the Registry navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data
- Select the "Toolbars" value on the right
- Right-click the value and select "Rename"
- Change the name to ToolbarsOld
- Start Word
- Change your toolbars
- Exit and restart to see if your settings have been retained

If this resolves the issue then you can delete the "ToobarsOld" value.
Otherwise you can delete the new Toolbars value and rename the old one
back.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
