How do I make my own disign slide template

I have tried to create my own slide design template and put it in with the
others. It shows up in the slide design window as available for use looking
just as I designed it, but when I try to use it shows up as a blank slide.
Iwould like to keep it and use it other presentations. Could someone help
please?
