How do I open a .pub file in publisher?

O

Oscar

A customer sent me a .pub file. I had 97 version to no avail. Bought 2003 to
no avail. How can I open the unknown version in an application with internal
inconsistancy.

I don't think that whether you had an internal inconsistency would affect
your computer in any way. ;-)

Seriously, I assume you tried opening the .pub file so what happened?

I should have typed "I don't think that whether **you** had an internal
inconsistency would affect your computer in any way."

Lost something in the conversion between my strange mind and the keyboard.
Long day - just got home from a mini PA MVP Summit with 4 other MVPs. It was
awesome!

in message I *hate* when clients send me files with internal inconsistencies!...or they
take a file and just change the extension because they think that will
convert a word.doc to a .pdf.

Sounds like a corrupt file Oscar..ask the client exactly what they did.

Publisher 2003 will open all versions of .pub, however I have had some problems with
2000 documents. If you have Norton, disable script blocking and in Norton options,
misc., disable Office plug-ins as well.

If none of the above helps, I will open the file if for you...

Publisher 2003 will not open Publisher 1.0 files. The only app that can open
Publisher 1.0 files is Publisher 2.0.

What happens when you try opening a 1.0 file? Is there an error or do you get "can't
open because of a different version" lingo? I am going to go through my old floppies
and see if I can find a 1.0 file. They are all on 5 ¼" disks. I have 2.0 installed
but not 1.0.

Hey, Ed, we missed you last night. How did everything go with you? What was the
results of your online survey?

The results of my survey surprised me a little - but they were invaluable in
my coursework project.

I must get around to writing a proper post of thanks (thanks to all here who
took the survey :) )

It's been a long time Mary. I don't recall the message. I could add that to
my task list though :)
