How do I print 2 page spreads from Booklet format in Publisher?

C

crazymfr

I have booklet layout with 8" x 8" pages printing on 11" x 17" paper. I
don't know how to get it where I can view individual 2 page drafts. When I
print currently, page 1 is with 44, page 2 is with 43, etc. I want to be
able to print to view in draft form page 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, etc. This is for
draft markup purposes only. I know I will print 2 sided in booklet form as
stated previously when we are ready to mass produce. Bottom line is that
we'd like to be able to print and view our book in "story board mode" (I just
coined that) so we can see where any changes would need to be made before
mass production.

Please help! Thank you.!

This is not possible. However, if you change the printer to a PDF
driver, the paper size to the page size (both through File > Page Setup
Printer and Paper), change the page setup to Full Page (by going back
to the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog), and print to the PDF
printer driver, then the resulting PDF should be viewable in Adobe
Reader as reader's spreads.

(Note that the procedure differs in 2007 Microsoft Publisher.)

It's in the way you print it. A really easy way would be to print it to a
..pdf file and then print the .pdf file with multiple pages the way your want
it.

I've been outputing to a pdf writer for each iteration of drafting so far.
However, I need to show hard copy print outs for a production meeting. When
I output to the pdf writer, it prints it in the same way as publisher...two
pages per 11" x 17" sheet, page 1 & 44, 2 & 43,3 & 42, etc. Bottom line is
that I can't get it to output to the pdf writer in a way where I can do two
page spreads. Any ideas for a work around or a different pdf writer option?

I'm surprised that Publisher doesn't have this draft printing mode...is it
going to be contemplated in 2007?

If you turn off two page spread in view, select a page you want printed, click
yes to the query, that page and only that page will print.

You can also go to page setup, change the page setup to full page. This will put
the pages in chronological order. Print current page, click no to the query.

I gave you bad advice, pay no attention to the second paragraph in the previous
message.

When you are ready to print, current page, there is a "change page order",
select "one page per sheet." This will not give you side by side pages, but it
will print two concurrent pages.

I tried every possible permutation of printing the current page on it's own.
The best I came up with resulted in 2 pages spreads but in reverse order (ie:
9-8, 7-6,5-4, etc).

Any possible ideas why this is happening and how I can fix to go 4-5,6-7,8-9
etc?

I appreciate your help, I'm closer than I was before.

Let me know, thanks.

When you change your page setup to full page, there is a button that says
"change page order." Set that to one page per sheet.

When you print, be sure to have a two page spread. Pages (for instance) 3 & 4
should be together, print current page. Do it to the PDF printer, no wasted
paper.

I don't know why you are getting 4 before 3. Maybe you can set your printer for
reverse order.

Ok, so the new situation is that I was able to print a two page spread, but
the two page spread was just a copy of the same page taken twice (ie:
3-3,4-4,5-5, etc).

The problem with the pdf writer is that it will only pick up what publisher
is sending it. Publisher doesn't want to output 2 page spreads. Is there a
way to do this, or is it just not possible.

I think i've tried just about everything...

Let me know if you have any more ideas, I'm kinda out of 'em.

Thanks.

Directly printing two-page spreads isn't possible. However, if you print
single pages and set Adobe Reader to "Continuous - Facing" then you will
have two-page spreads in Reader if not in your PDF file.

I've found that having .pdf creating software on a system is a great asset
with Publisher. You can shrink or enlarge entire documents, print various
ways that are either difficult or impossible in Publisher, share files with
others for reviewing, email newsletters, etc. My favorite, of course, is
being able to turn a multipage page newsletter into an email. I've decided
that *everyone* with Publisher needs to have PrimoPDF or Acrobat or any of
the other free/low-cost options. It makes life so much easier. :)
