How do I print an envelope on an HP photosmart 8250?

I just purchased an HP Photosmart 8250 printer. I have an envelope created
in Microsoft publisher (I'm running Windows 2000 pro) that printed fine on my
HP 882C printer, but will not print on the 8250. It uses three envelopes to
do it and prints pieces of it in portrait, even though I have selected the
business envelope size and formatted it in the printer properties. Any
suggestions? Thanks

I have one of those...
In print setup, finishing tab, scroll down to the #10 envelope, give it a custom name
in the dialogue (I named mine "my envelope"), click landscape. Save the name. In page
setup it should reflect this printer setup.
For some reason this printer wants the envelope to be a label.

Mary,
Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem. It still prints on three
envelopes. If I change the tools>options menu in Publisher to print this
document on #10 envelopes, the print preview shows it taking two envelopes.
If I use "automatic" in the tools>options menu, it shows it taking three
envelopes. Any other ideas?
Thanks

I don't know what else I can tell you, this setup works for me and my 8250. Do you
have "actual size" selected in Effects? You shouldn't have to select any options in
Publisher, all of the setup is done in the printer properties. After you setup the
printer, in Publisher's page setup, full page will be selected, the dimensions will
be dimmed but will have the correct measurements.

Hi, Mary,
Yes, I have "actual size" selected. I've tried all the different
combinations I can think of, but the program won't set it up for the printer,
or the printer won't set it up from the program. I spent last night
designing an envelope in Word, and it will print fine. I don't know what the
difference should be in Publisher. Has something to do with getting it to
print landscape. It shows landscape in the printer setup, but doesn't want
to print that way. The print preview function shows the envelopes either in
landscape with portrait text, or in portrait with landscape text. I need to
try something else done in publisher in landscape and see if I can get it to
print. I am not pleased, but I don't know whether to be displeased with
Publisher or with the printer. The thing is, it worked fine with my other HP
printer, but won't work now.

Yeah!!! It worked.

Thanks, Mary. It was in the Page Setup. The Page Setup in my version of
Publisher 2000 doesn't look like the one you put in the PDF. It only has one
tab and has radio buttons to select sizes. But I clicked on the "normal"
button, if I remember correctly, and then it worked. I had created it as an
envelope, so "envelope" was selected. Seems wierd that the printer doesnt
recognize it as an envelope.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there with me on this. I really appreciate
it. I could have ruined a lot of envelopes, or maybe have had to buy another
printer to print them.

Thanks Again,
Barry

Hey, good news. Thanks for posting your success, it is always appreciated. I should
have asked you what version Publisher, it would have been easier for you.
Good luck.
