How do I put text in the "donut" auto shape?

I was using word art but it involves a lot of playing around, and its
difficult to align the text and keep it with in the donut.

Use Illustrator, create curves, and export as a PNG?

Sorry, but there's no straightforward way to curve text around a shape in
PPT.
