How do I read Office 2003 .MDI files with Office XP?

Our office ti all Win XP with Office XP. We have a client that keeps sending
us files in the .mdi format. We can't open them. We have determined (after
may questions) that they have Office 2003. What can we do to read those .MDI
files?

..mdi files created with Office 2003 are in a different format than .mdi
files created with Office XP. There is no free viewer for .mdi files.
The only way to view Office 2003 .mdi files is with the Microsoft Office
Document Imaging application that comes with Office 2003.

Hi Snixon,

The MDI format is a new feature of Office 2003.
For compatability from MS Office Document Imaging
in Office XP ask the client to use the Save As TIFF
option in their 2003 version.

Note that features such as 'annotation' in Office 2003's
MDI program aren't supported in the Office XP version.
