How do I remove complex scripts that have appeared in MS Office 20

Hi Aline,

Be sure that Word is not running when you make the
changes in the Language Setting Tools by checking
the Task Manager (can be a bit iffy if you're using
the 'Microsoft Office' Shortcut in Start=>Programs->Startup

Sometimes, if you add an RTL language, Chinese or Hebrew
then close the tool, then use it again and remove that
language it will make the change.

If that does not work try running the setting tool while
Word is running. It should ask you if you want to have it
close Office apps. Choose yes and when Word restarts see
if the Complex Scripts Tab (and in File=>Page Setup the Grid
button) are gone. If so, you may find that the Setting tool
has renamed Normal.dot to Normal.dot.old and created a new,
generic Normal.dot template and that your customizations are
gone.

=======
Many thanks for your suggestion Bob.

Have checked this to confirm that I removed all languages other than English
(UK). I also tried with loading English (US) to see if that got around the
problem - but no luck.

I also double-checked Window XP Regional Language settings, and have just
English UK and English US loaded - the option for right-to-left languages is
not checked.

Still puzzled??? Thanks again.

Hi again Bob

Sorry for delay in trying these actions.

I now have performed both - making sure Word is not running and with Word
running, and by adding and removing Hebrew on both occasions. With Word
running it did ask to close Office applications as you indicated and I went
along with the requests. Another Normal.dot template was not created.

Complex Scripts is a persistant fellow and really doesn't want to disappear.

I fear my only way forward will be to deinstall and reinstall Office 2003.
However, I really don't want to mess up my Outlook mail boxes so would be
happy to try anything else you can think of first before proceeding with
deinstallation.

Thank you for your time in responding to my query.
