..docx isn't encryption. It's the new format used by Word2007. If
someone sent you a .docx file and you can't open it in Word2003 (or
earlier), you need to download the Compatibility Pack (free) from the
Mucrosoft website.
If you have Word2007 and want to save your document as a .doc so you
can send it to people who don't have Word2007 or the Compatibility
Pack, then go to Office Button > Save As > Word 97-2003 Format, which
will give you a copy in the old format alongside the original in the
new format.
