How do I remove the calendar in the navigation bar?

I don't care for all the space that the calendar months take up in the nav
bar. Ideally, I'd like to remove the nav altogether, but then I lose the
mail, calendar and contacts buttons that allow a quick switching between
them. Can I move the calendar, contacts and mail buttons to the top of the
nav pane? Can I move them to the top of the screen and get rid of the nav
pane? Thanks.

So WHICH version of Outlook do you use? If OL2003, there are buttons at the
bottom of the pane to let you configure which components show in the pane
and which show as buttons at the bottom.

I am assuming you are working with Outlook 2003.

As far as I am aware, you are stuck with the Date Navigator in the
Navigation Pane (unless of course you turn off the Navigation Pane). You can
make your buttons in the bottom of the Navigation Pane become tiles,
likewise, if they are tiles, you can make them buttons so that they take up
very little space. You can always use the "Go" menu at the top of the screen
to go to a different folder.

Thanks guys. I plan to try your suggestions this afternoon. I'm sorry I
forgot to say that I'm using Outlook 2003.
