How do I repeat the title elsewhere in a Publisher document?

When I created a type of newsletter in Publisher, using a template, I was
astonished to see that the title and the date of issue automatically repeat
in the footer of the 2nd and third pages. But I'll be darned if I can figure
out how it's done! It's not in the Master Page view and it's not in Personal
Information. There doesn't seem to be anything special about the style or
anything. How do you do that? I'd like to do it in other documents that are
not newsletters.

There was much discussion on this a few months (years?) ago.

The feature is called Synchronization, and it is only available in
wizard-generated documents. It is hard-coded into the application
templates.

Try doing a Google Groups search in this newsgroup
(microsoft.public.publisher) for "synchronization" - I seem to remember
there being a workaround with copy/pasting.

Thanks, Ed. I gather from what I see that it's built into the wizards and I
can only get it that way. What a weird way to do things, but at least I know
what I'm dealing with. It looks like most folks don't want to use it, but in
my case I find it handy. I'll figure out another way to do what I want.
Thanks!

What you can do is to copy some synchronized text from a template. For
example, the title form a newsletter template. Paste it into your target
document. Change the text as needed (size, content, format, etc) and copy
and paste it into other pages however many places you need it. When you
change any one of those text boxes, they will all change.

I did find that changing the font, color of the font, or fill did NOT carry
over to the other boxes. It appears that just the content did. If you want
page numbers, copy over the page number text boxes from a newsletter. They
will change automatically.

Thanks, JoAnn! I'll give it a try.

This thread looks like a good one to tie into with this question - -
I want to set a permanent title and navigation block on a webpage (they
would probably be identical on each page of the website, though not
necessarily) - - content would scroll, but the title and navigation bar would
not - -
Any suggestions????

What you are talking about is a completely different situation than one that
I responded to way back when. I was talking about a print document, not a
website. I don't use Publisher for websites. My personal opinion is that it
is not the right tool for the job. I use Front Page for now but will
probably be switching over to Expression Web in the next couple of months.
