When you create the star from autoshapes and place it around a circle, each star
should be rotated 30 degrees. Create a circle. Draw a star with the autoshapes, align
with the circle on top, copy/paste the star three times, Right-click the first copied
star, click format autoshape, size tab, rotation 30 degrees. The second copied star,
right-click, format autoshape, size tab, rotation, 60 degrees, and then the third
copied star, right-click, format autoshape, size tab, rotate 90 degrees. Align star 4
with the center of the circle. Group stars 2, 3 and 4 copy, paste, flip horizontal,
drag to the other side of the circle and align and ungroup. Group stars 1, 2, 3, 4,
and 5, copy/paste, flip vertical and drag to the bottom of the circle. Align. Delete
the circle.
This is complicated I know, but it will give you a more polished look. Be certain
your circle is round, not oval. To be sure, right-click, format autoshape, size
tab... It would be helpful too if your stars are symmetrical.
The more stars you add the less rotation you will need for each star. The
instructions above gives you 12 stars.
