how do i set up outlook to send my e-mails my default account is
btinternet.com when i send i get a message that it has failed to send can't
find server

Your BTInternet provider should have the details on their website on how to
set up the POP and SMTP servers for incoming and outgoing mail.

on Acounts set the server details as follows:

incoming mail.btinternet.com

outgoing smtp.btinternet.com
