how do i stop word from auto page numbering

Hi Ed,

Double-click on it and delete it.
If it's in a frame (box with a striped border), you should select that and
delete it, too.

Are you referring to numbering pages or putting page numbers on the pages?
There's a difference (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/PageNumbering.htm). You can't stop Word
from numbering (counting) the pages.
