How do I turn off "do not check spelling and gramar" ?

I received a word document that has selected text marked as "do not check
spelling and gramar". How do I turn this off so the spelling can be checked?

Ctrl+A to select the entire document. Go to Tools | Language | Set Language,
make sure the correct language is selected, and then clear the check box for
"Do not check spelling or grammar."
