how do I turn off sounds in Office 2003

R

Rebecca J.

I don't want my computer to beep at me when I do things such as try to close
an unsaved email message in Outlook.
I use Windows XP (HomeEdition) and was using Office 2002, at which time I
had a silent computer. I upgraded to Office 2003 and the beeping started.
(Internet Explorer now beeps at me as well.)
I have used Outlook's Tools-Options menu to turn off all the sounds I could
find.
I have used the Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - to set the Sound
Scheme to "No Sounds"
I have searched for and deleted all .wav files in Microsoft programs.
The computer still beeps at me.
Thanks for any help.

You can go into Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on the
Sounds tab. From there you can turn off all sounds or just selected
sounds.

I've been known to just turn my speakers off. (Kind of a "toss the baby out
with the bath water" method but it works.)

Thanks, but I already tried that (see my original message.). My sounds are
all turned off - but my computer is still beeping. Thanks anyway!

I hadn't tried that before. So I just did. Unfortunately, my computer is
still beeping. Thanks anyway!
