How do I "unpublish" a site and keep the administrator

I have a web site administrator, and I have a site, but now I need to move
files from one space and put it on the site without losing components. I have
been given permission to delete the former site and replace it but I can't do
that without removing myself from the administrators system, which he says is
a bad thing. Please help.

Clarify move files from one space
If you mean update or replace files on a server, just publish All pages
If you mean "move" to another server Publish from server A to server B
