How do I use an Autoshape textbox for HIGHLIGHTED text?

H

Homer

I've learned that I can change the default settings for a textbox so I don't
have to change every single one I make. I have already typed a lot of text
and now I've changed my mind, and I want to put the text into several
different textboxes. Instead of retyping or cutting and pasting, I just want
to highlight the text, click the textbox icon, and have my autoshape textbox
wrap the selected text. But, autoshape does not seem to work with highlighted
text. What should I do?

Hi Homer-

I'm not real clear on what you want, but if I understand correctly - that
you want to keep the same text, but use different shapes - select one or more
text boxes, then go to the Draw button on the Drawing Toolbar & select Change
AutoShape. The submenu will show what choices are available. Formatting &
Properties will be retained.

OTOH- Are you trying to get part of the text from one box into another? If
you select regular text in the doc and click the Text Box tool the text will
be placed in a text box, but if the text is _already_ in a text box & you're
just selecting a portion of it, a new text box won't be created. You'll have
to cut & paste or perhaps link text boxes.
