how do interface visio with everything else???

i am wondering how to make visio work as more than just a design program.
from what i hear it cn configure a network, setup program structures in
visual studio, and more, but i would like to know how to do some of this.
for example, i have my network all laid out in a very detailed fashion. can
i then make configuration changes in visio and then have them implemented on
the network through visio?

well, since it's 2005 beta, then you are probably using the Whidby product
which means that you should have the functionality to do the UML modeling =>
class structure.
Network operations/configurations using Visio requires that custom code be
written by either the user or a third party. It is not standard in visio. In
fact the auto discovery function and directory services support were
stripped out at v2002. Using tools such as PowerTCP Telnet OCX control you
can get a lot of functionality in that direction, but you might want to
consider using some off the shelf tools such as CiscoWorks or NetFormx.

I know that Netformx have also an addon for Visio that
adds their configurator logic, but I'm not sure it will
work on Visio 2005.

Then it's probably more appropriate to ask them about their support in a
future release.
