How do some of the column relationships work?

I am looking for a diagram or a schematic that outlines the relationship between several columns within MS Project.

For example. The relationship between % complete and duration.

If I adjust the duration from 2 days to 4 why and or how does the % complete change?

So if I have a Duration, Start Date, End Date, % Complete and Status columns and all fields are populated how does one change effect the other columns?

Remember that "% Complete" refers to duration. So we have a task that is
two days duration and is 50% complete, that means we've worked on it 1 day.
If you change the duration from 2 days to 4 days, the % complete drops from
50% to 25% because the 1 day that has been worked is 25% of the now 4 days
that is required to compelte the task.
