How do you edit a .thmx file??

How the heck do you edit a .thmx file? Everytime a try to open it, I just get
a blank document based on it. Do I have to make my edits to the blank file,
then resave the theme???

A Theme file is a XML file that tells the slide, what it should look like.
It does not contain any slides itself. Only the information about colors,
fonts, effects and background.

Open a document based on it, change it and then resave as THMX.
