How do you install Office 2003 on a PC with a Windows ME operatin.

P

Paul G.

I have a sony laptop 350 running windows me. It has 192 megabytes of RAM ,
360 Megahertz and at least 1 gigabyte of storage available for storage. When
I try to load office 2003, it tells me that it can not load office 2003 using
this outdated operating system, i.e., windows me. What do I do? The laptop
is marginal with respect to installing Windows XP home so that is not an
option.

You can't install it. Office 2003 specifically states you MUST have Win XP
or Win 2000. There is no way around that. Your options are to get a system
with said OS or try to find an older version of Office.

Hello

I believe that you are not able to install Office 2003 on Windows ME. You would need to Upgrade your OS.

Go to http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.3/index.html and download their
free Open Office program. Gives most of the functionality of Office 2003
and will read and save most Office files. Works with ME.

As others have said, Office 2003 requires a "later" NT based OS which are
Windows 2000 and XP. It uses parts of the OS that is unavailable in the old
DOS based OSs (95, 98 and ME.)
