how do you make backgrounds fixed?

How do you make backgrounds for a webpage be fixed and non-repeating
(tiled)? I've been trying for anges and haven't managed to get it to work...
And when I say fixed I mean so that when you scroll down the picture stays
put in the background. Any clues?

I don't know how it's done but I can tell you that I find that irritating
for some reason. I think it's because when I scroll down to read it, the
background seems move in the opposite direction. Quite distracting.

Make it large enough to cover the page.

BTW, questions about web pages are best posted in the web design NG.

I know it can be anoying, but for this particular website it's better that
it's position fixed.. Any idea how to get the webpage to not pull to the left
in a browser? It keeps doing that for some reason when I publish the page. As
everything is pulled to the left side a bit and it not centered.

What you are probably describing is framing, and that is not supported by
Publisher.

Framing has fallen out of favor by most for lots of reasons. One of the most
important is that the webbots generally cannot index anything that is
framed. Most people preferred to have their sites found by the search
engines and indexed.

You can use the insert html code fragment tool to insert iframe code if you
choose to do it, but I would suggest that you google "web framing" and read
up on the subject before you pursue it.

If you have any further web related questions please post your questions in
the web design group at microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign and we will try
to help you there.
