How do you merger multiple resources into one resource

We are working in MS Project and have multiple resources that we want to
combine into one resource for all tasks assigned to the multiple resource.

Hi Mick,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

That depends on the number of occurrences. If you have many substitutions
to make, then try some vba code. For a few, used the Assign Resources
dialog (activated via the two headed button on the Standard toolbar) Select
the task and resource and click Replace... and select the generic resource
you want.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi,

On top of this, there is good news and there is bad news.
The good news is that when you use the assign resources window, and in the
main task view you select all tasks, replace works for all tasks at once:
very very fast

The bad news is that when a task has two resources assigned that have to be
translated into the same generic resource, it doesn't work - and what's
more, this case makes the VBA solution ten times more complicated.
