How do you set a backround

If you want to add a background to your document, go to Format > Background.
However, in general these don't print, they only display on screen as
they'are meant for building webpages.

Whether they print depends on the version of Word you are using. As of
Word 2003 they finally added a print option found under
Tools/Options/Print for "Print background colors and images".

I only just got around to installing 2003 on my home PC after using Word 2000
for around 5 years. It seems to require a complete new mindset!
