How does security relate to MDE files?

I am in the process of learning how to implement User Level Security. I
currently have Front Ends on the users PC's with a Back End on the network.
I use Tony Toews AutoFE Updater to keep the FE's up to date. I am wanting to
implement security and change the FE & BE to MDE files.
Do I convert to MDE after I implement Security?
If so, can security be modified on MDE files?
i.e. Adding, deleting, modifying Users etc...

There is nothing to be gained by making the back end an MDE as this does nothing
to tables.

You can implelement security before or after making the MDE.

Security can be changed on an MDE just fine.

Thanks Rick,
I wasnt thinking very hard about converting the Backend to MDE.
I was concerned about users being able to link or copy the tables to
another database. I thought that making it an mde would prevent this.
But of course my security will do that....duh
