How keep pictures from resizing when saving in Word?

I originally created a document in Word 6.0 containing pictures. Now when I
open the document in Word 2003 the picture appears with incorrect
proportions. I can successfully return the picture to its correct dimensions
using "Format Picture," but when I save the document the picture
automatically resizes to the incorrect porportions.
Can I prevent Word 2003 from altering the original picture? Or at the
very least, can I keep it from undoing the changes I make? Thanks for any
assistance.

Hi Howard,

Is the graphic in the document or linked to it?

Is it changing the size or the height x width ratio
as well?

If it's only the size then you may want to change the
pixels per inch setting in Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options=>Pictures
