How to advance PowerPoint out of order?

I have a "terms" page on a Powerpoint. Users check each hyperlink to advance
to hidden slides with the definitions for the terms. I have inserted a button
on each of these hidden slides to take them back to the terms page, but if
they simply click (not on the button), they'll miss the rest of the
definitions. Is there a way to change where the user is taken when they
simply click a particular slide or use their mouse wheel to advance? Can a
macro be used? Any ideas?

You can set up your presentation to be "Browsed at a KIOSK" (under Slide
Show, Set up show menu option). You MUST, however, provide buttons for all
slide navigations since simply clicking the mouse anywhere will not work.

If you set your presentation to "Kiosk", they will have to click on the links
that you provide. You don't have to worry about their random clicks or keyboard
entries. Only the Escape key will work.

What Bill and Sonia said, and ...

You could put each definition in a Custom Show. The link to the
definition would go to the Show and not the slide and have the box
checked for Show and Return.

If all your navigation is already done by clicking on buttons and
hyperlinks, Kiosk mode is your best choice. Otherwise, you'll have to
decide if adding buttons and hyperlinks for all navigation is better than
setting up custom shows.

You could add a transparent rectangle of the same size as the slide instead
of or beneath the buttons with a hyperlink to take them back to the "terms"
page. Use any color and make it 100% transparent, if they are using the
viewer, as "no fill, no line" will not work in PPT Viewer 2003.
