How to build up a list of pictures

hi, everyone.

I meet a problem when I am trying to build up a list of pictures in my
word 2000.

Since I have successfully built a list of tables by using Insert|Index
and Tables|Table of figures. I guess I can do in the same way to build
a list of pictures. So I followed the following steps.

1 choose those pictures and built a caption label named "Pics." by
using Insert|Caption|New label.

2 Use Insert|Index and Tables|Table of figures, then change the
caption label to "Pics." But I get an error like "Error! No table of
figures entries found."

Is it possible to build up a list of pictures this way? Or is there
any way to build up a list of things other than tables and figures?
