a friend of mine recently had eye surgery and is now having problems working
with project. the white background is very bright for her and hurts her eyes
.. is there a way to switch the background or use a different theme in
project. i know this might be a silly question but i tried looking but could
not find a solution.

not2bright,
It sounds like that's what you friend needs, a display that is
"not2bright" :-O

Unfortunately there is no way to change the white background in Project
itself. You could try playing with the monitor's contrast or brightness
setting to give more of a light grey, but that's probably the best you
can do.

How about hanging one of those anti-glare filters you used to see often
over the monitor? It may cut down a bit of the light. Failing that,
can her optician recommend some sort of "sun glasses" (her organisation
may well pay for them if she has a word with its safety officer)?

Hopefully this effect is temporaray following surgery and will pass quickly.

Good luck to her.
