how to change the background with out the other backgrounds changing?

I'm trying to change background on one slide but they are all changing. what do i do?

I assume this means you are using PowerPoint 97 or 2000? If so, only one
design is allowed per presentation, but there are workarounds. Check out

Other than Bill's advice, are you clicking the Apply to All button rather
than just the Apply button?
