How to 'Contacts' information

G

george

Hi,

(Not an office literate)
Is there a way to configure Outlook 2003 'Contacts' so the 'File As:'
defaults to the setting I would like?
As it is (by default, I guess) when I enter a new contact, say John Doe, the
Full name reads what I would expect, John Doe, but the File As: defaults to
Doe, John. I would like this to also default to John Doe. Can it be done?
(Now have alsways have to manually change that.)
In that light, is it possible to easily (in one swift move) change whatever
is currently held in the File As: field to the preference I have, without
having to go through the existing ones, one by one?

Thanks for your help.

George

In Outlook:
Tools menu / E-Mail Accounts / click view or change existing directories or address books / next / click Outlook Address Book / click change / click the address book you want to change the display format of / change "show names by" first last or last first / close / finish. Restart Outlook.
To verify your changes:
Tools menu / Preferences / Contact options / click last first or first last (your preference again) / click ok twice.
You may have to individually change any Contacts that are still not configured to use your prefered format.

george,
The help system is much improved now with the inclusion of online access to Microsoft KB and articles for assistance. Thats what we trained on for use of Office 2003 in our company, still do, since software is an on going process...
Appreciate the reply., and glad to help.
